The Jinn
[/size]HISTORY:
The Jinn are part of the 'first race', their counterpart being the 'Harpies' (see Harpies for more info). The Jinn and Harpies were created by Tatriel and Vau'Cheth, whereas the other races, the second and third, were created by their children.
The Jinn have existed on Illiria for as long as time itself, and have seen the passings of all the years and seasons, and know what has happened to the lands, and assuming history repeats itself, will know what is to come. Their race has always remained few, since reproduction within their kind is rare and hard to accomplish, as well as only two Jinn can mate successfully, there nary have been a half-bred Jinn before. It was as if their creators willed it this way, to make sure that the knowledge their clan possessed remained within their people. This isn't to say that a Jinn hasn't fallen in love with one outside of their race; quite on the contrary many find their Ke'niefka (soul mate) being another race.
For centuries upon millenia, the Jinn have resided what is now called 'The Valley of Fire', the large expansive desert to the western side of the continent. They were slightly debacherous creatures, thriving in indulgence and elegance. They enjoy fine things, and have perfected 'art' in their own sense. They are a race of pleasure, renown for their delicious foods, fine clothings, stunning music, and even as far as their bed skills... *cough*. Their great and beautiful city was named Ni'lai, and now, it lies in ruins.
Near a thousand years ago, due to a great dispute, the harpies decended upon the Jinn and erradicated their people from the lands, chasing them into the Umbra, the few stragglers forced to remain as slaves to human folk. Only a few managed to land in an island located in the Sea of the Black Abyss called Terra do Fogo, which is like a paradise within the eye of a storm. The Jinn, though clever and seductive creatures, were never meant for combat, being generally peaceful in their indulgent natures.
Basically, they didn't stand a chance when push came to shove.
APPEARANCE:
Jinn are very tanned, dark skinned people. They often wear tattoo's, preferably in places that draw attention to the more 'seductive' parts of the body... but they often wear Tattoo's for the reason of marking their family name. When a woman weds a male, or when an outsider weds a female Jinn, they are required to bear the mark of the family upon their body (where though is up to their discretion). Every single one bears stark white hair and ruby red eyes, their bodies seem naturally lean and toned, every face beautiful and stunning in their own way like little pieces of art. Their look is more 'seductive' than simple beauty though, but that's how they make themselves out to be.. on purpose. The Jinn tend to be of 'adverage' height, if running a little on the short side. They have slightly pointed ears, but not nearly to the degree of an elves.
INNATE SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Note: Not all Jinn have these abilities, and not all Jinn are master's at them. So when creating a character that is a Jinn, keep this in mind
Mesmerize: The ability to enchant a creature (any creature) with the power of supernatural seduction. The stronger willed the creature, the harder it is. Ineffective against immortals. They become willing to please the one effecting them with the spell.
Charm: Like Mesmerize, but affects a larger scope of people, creating an aura of compliance around the individual and affecting those within the radius of the aura. The expanse of the aura is determined by the Jinn's level of concentration and personal ability.
Hypnotize: Completely and utterly make someone your puppet. Takes a great amount of concentration though and if you aren't careful you can cause madness into the castee.
SPECIAL TRAITS
When making a Jinn, remember that their hair is always white and the eyes are always red. There are no Jinn half-breeds as it's impossible for them to breed with someone outside of their species (they can bed an elf, per-say, but cannot impregnate one or become pregnant from one). They are also innately peaceful creatures and tend to avoid direct conflict if at all possible unless other's besides themselves are threatened. Jinn are naturally talented at things of pleasure and entertainment, most are naturally seductive, and are gifted in something like dance, singing, music, art, cooking, tailoring, etc etc.
